A cold day beginning with blue sky & moving to grey & wet, with snow in Birmingham.

Morning reading…

Reading, but not for this morning…

… the second edition of Dr. Lucy Green’s Music On Deaf Ears. Hooray! This is where Dr. Lucy develops the notion of the radical fetishisation of the inherent & delineated meanings of music, a term that brings to mind fun stories of the Happy Gigster’s life on the road with pals John Sinks & Ronan Chris Murphy in 1997/98.

Preparing for F&F.

16.11  An afternoon practising. Wedding TV is now in the house, interviewing & filming the Minx. E-flurrying ahead.

16.53  An offer has arrived to play Soundscapes / Churchscapes in Mexico City next March. From the reply…

many thanks for expressing an interest in my work.

playing music is always a privilege, playing in a church an act of worship - privilege +. but there are major practical problems...

1.         playing in a square, or public place, has more to do with photography, viddying & recording than listening to music.

2.         public performance in a church, experience suggests, does not meet with the respect a sacred space deserves.

3.         the cost of getting the equipment, engineer & myself to mexico city means it costs me to get there.

3.         very few members of the public like Soundcapes / Churchscapes anyway!

so, gratefully, i decline your kind invitation.

19.20  A meeting at 18.00 re: creating a dedicated dressing room for T & upgrading her office.

And fumes are descending into the house from the Guest Bedroom on the top floor, where fluids incompatible with the continuing existence of woodworms & termites have been applied to the joists.

And continuing hard reflection re: the on/off Crimson Celebration. From my e-mail to the Crims…

i let go of Crimson plans & re-directed my attention elsewhere. i was up for the Celebration, there was a momentum, there was a hold in my calendar; then it changed.  there we are. that's what it is…

so, once again, a major re-direct of attention, more torments & twisting such as i know well from the Crimson life. following further reflection & consideration of the on-off-on nature of Crimsoning next Spring. having let go of this & moved on, i recognise & acknowledge that i've moved on.

so, the good news:

we've had a  Celebration, and it was good. hooray!

the future is open & waits to be written. hooray!

Supper & to gentle. Dribble.
